Who do I teach?
- I teach General Education & Special Education students (Pre-School, Elementary, Middle and HS), College Students & Adult Learners - I teach ZOOM Drum lessons to Students throughout the US & Internationally - Beginner. Intermediate & Advanced Lessons available in all styles and genres for Drum-Set, Marching Percussion & Concert Percussion - Great for Self-Direction! I am an approved vendor for people who receive self directed services through ISS, AIM, EEDA, RCIL, ACDS, A1 Universal Care & Citizens Options Unlimited (AHRC).
What do I teach?
- Drum-Set, Marching Percussion & Concert Percussion - Each lesson is customized to the students, talents, interests, goals and abilities - Hobbyist Drum Lessons for students who just want to learn how to play the drums for fun - Professional Drum Lessons for students who want to learn how to play like a pro. (Lessons follow a much stricter curriculum that includes a level system to track progress and certificates of achievement) - Learn how to play to your favorite Songs, Artists & Bands! - Prep for School Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Drumline & Drum Corps - Stick Control, Pedal Control, Technique, Rudiments, Double Bass - Music Theory, How to read & write Drum Notation - Prep for NYSSMA (Snare & Drum-Set)
What private lesson and class options do you offer?
- I offer ZOOM, Private drum lessons - I teach 1/2 hour and 1 hour lessons (longer lessons are also available if interested, just ask!) - You can schedule a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly recurring time slot (I currently have a waiting list for full time students) - You can also book lessons intermittently. Each week I typically have additional time slots available based on my availability. Open time slots do vary week to week.
How do I pay for lessons?
- A weekly or monthly invoice will be emailed to you for every lesson you take with Brian through the Calhoun Drum Academy. - You can pay lesson by lesson or Monthly if you have a set weekly, bi-weekly or monthly time slot with Brian - I accept Cash, Check, Venmo and PayPal - I also accept Direct Pay by check through a Fiscal Intermediary (FI) for people who receive Self-Directed services and pay for lessons utilizing their class budget. I am an approved vendor for ISS (Independent Support Services), AIM Services, Inc., EEDA (East End Disabilities Associates), RCIL (Resource Center for Independent Living), A1 Universal Care, ACDS and Citizens Options Unlimited (AHRC). If you receive services through a different FI, I am happy to discuss becoming an approved Vendor for your FI so you may utilize your class budget for lessons and classes. Email: BrianCalhounDrums@Gmail.com to discuss payment options - Reminder Brian Calhoun Music and Drums Inc. and the Calhoun Drum Academy is not under the auspices of OPWDD regulations and is not mandated to follow OPWDD guidance for service provision. For guidance: If a student is using Self Direction Direct Pay services, invoice's not received within 30 days of the invoice submission to the instructed FI, the student is responsible to pay the pending invoice in full prior to your next private drum lesson or class with the Calhoun Drum Academy. - If a Fiscal Intermediary (FI) Payroll fails to provide the lesson or class payment in a timely manner repeatedly, Brian Calhoun Music and Drums Inc. reserves the right to discontinue direct pay supportive invoicing and will request the payment be made out of pocket from the student.
What are your rates?
- ZOOM Lessons are - $85 - 1 Hour / $45 - 1/2 Hour - The Calhoun Drum Academy "Drumline" is a separate class. Please refer to the General Class Info section of this website for more information.
What is your cancelation policy?
- Respectfully, please give Brian 24hrs advanced notice for all ZOOM lesson cancellations if you are not able to make your normal lesson day or time, this way he can schedule his day accordingly. - NO SHOWS: If a student does not give 24hrs prior notice and fails to show up for a scheduled lesson, the student will be charged for the missed lesson - If you need to re-schedule your normal lesson day or time, Brian is flexible with scheduling an alternate day and time to accommodate a make up lesson. - In the event Brian needs to re-schedule your lesson day or time he will always give advanced notice and offer flexible options to schedule a make up lesson - Respectfully, Full time students who have a set weekly, bi-weekly or a monthly schedule with Brian are required to give 2 weeks notice if you decide to stop or take a break from lessons or classes.
